ELECTRICAL EMERGENCY


An electrical Emergency Stop is a fail-safe control switch or circuit that, when de-energized, switches off any possible dangers outside the main power enclosure and stops the functioning of connected equipment. Emergency Stops, also known as "E-Stops," are a kind of pilot gadget that performs an emergency shutdown on a machine or electrical system. E-stops differ from standard "OFF" buttons in that they must pass a stringent set of tests and meet a long list of specifications.

As per the guidelines of BIS, low-voltage switchgear and control gear is electrical emergency stop devices with a mechanical latching function and shall be registered under the compulsory registration scheme from BIS registration as per IS/IEC 60947: PART 5: SEC 5: 2016. BIS Registration provides the right to manufacture, import, store, and sell or distribute this product in the Indian Market.



BIS covered it under the Compulsory registration scheme to protect public health.

This consolidated version consists of the first edition (1997), its amendment 1 (2005) and its amendment 2 (2016). Therefore, no need to order amendments in addition to this publication.
